| Star Polyps | un happy coral. just got some mother colonies of leathers, nepthea and yellow pulsing xenia from indonesia and my toadstool had kinda been getting a brown scum around the base and when i touched the base to see what it was it just deteriated. ALSO my xenia looks a little on the not so good side. theirs a couple air bubbles on top of it and their still not opening. water qualitly is PERFECT right on. temp is fine. this is the 3rd day they have been in the system. ANY suggestions would work. im also reading alot up on them in my coral books. any idea? also im using natrual sunlight in my grow room wich has been up for 6 months with corals.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: un happy coral. Well if the base deteriorated you really have no choice on the toadstool. Frag it and hope for the best on the frags. The xenia you could try the same. Mine seems to like a fairly high amount of flow. Not a ton but deninitely enough to blow it around some. So basically I guess my recommendation is frag and flow and of course since it is leathers, run carbon.

| Star Polyps | Re: un happy coral. haha thanks for the advice. but thats exactly what i did to the toad kinda after i posted this. the xenia has got flow, i got a hydor wich rotates in 360 degrees and kinda blows them around a little. but i kinda seen a couple of polyps actualy detach and float to another location. its not sliming up or anything and dont look like their deteriating. i hope this works out. its a yellow pulsing xenia. haha its SWEEET.
