| Ricordea | Re: bacterial infection?? =( could just be some of the frags dieing. If you ever notice a coral die it will get covered in a weird film stuff like mold or bacteria of some sort. Or even just a piece of that coral was dieing where it got cut but the "film" covered the whole mushroom just because it happen to be there. |

| Do I look as lost as I am ![]() | Re: bacterial infection?? =( Sounds a lot like Cyano bacteria. Sometimes called "Red Velvet Algae". Comes from low flow, high nutrient combination. Google it but I can tell ya manual removal, increased flow and nutrient "investigation" are the keys to removing it long term. It's a fast grower and will choke out corals quickly. ![]()

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. | Reef Lobster | Re: bacterial infection?? =( When you hack up corals, some frags don't do well. Watch the ones that are having problems and toss them if they begin to melt away.

| Star Polyps | Re: bacterial infection?? =( thanks guys, im sure its just a bacteria eating it away. its not red slime or cyno becasue that stuff flakes away easy and its ONLY on a couple mushrooms that are tiny from fraging. thanks anyway =)

| Reef Lobster | Re: bacterial infection?? =( You could try a light iodine dip. Take a quart or so of tank water, add a couple drops of Lugol's or Kent iodine and then dip the frag for a couple minutes.
