| Reef Lobster | Re: Shrooms ok to cut? Heres a few photos for ya. Here is a mushroom that I cut off a rock. I didn't quarter it because I was giving it to a friend. I put some of the substrate in the cup and put the shroom in cut side down. I try to make sure there is room between the shroom and the vail. You don't want to press it down, just keep in the cup. If you press it down, the shroom will cut up through the vail. Not good. ![]() Heres a shot looking down into the cup. ![]() After about a week or so, the shroom is attached and ready to glue to a rock or shell. ![]() Heres another shot. Tang is quite the investigator! He hasn't figured out that I own the tank, not him! ![]() ![]() The mushrooms wound is a bit slimy when you cut them and they don't like to stick to CA if you try to glue them right away. So, you want to do the rubble thing and let them attach to something. then you can glue them to anything and they will stay put. Hope that helps you out! |

| Limpet | Re: Shrooms ok to cut? I don't know how well the veil works with shrooms but can give you some recent bad experience of mine. Veil was used to attach a green fuji toadstool to a piece of rubble for me. The toadstool was doing great and had all it's polyps out all the time. After 10 days I tried to remove the veil but discovered the toadstool flesh had grown completely over the veil (imaging a cut on your arm scabbing over a bandage in a couple weeks time). I used microscopic suture scissors to try and remove the veil but eventually destroyed the toadstool inthe process. I would recommend avoiding that method if possible and using the shot glass idea. |
