"best" is a completely different question than "hardiest." In terms of "best" I'd have to go with toadstool leather, zoanthid, colt coral. They're extremely hardy but less invasive.

I would have to agree with this post. One of my first corals were GSP & It grew like crazy, finnally got it all out of my tank. Lived im my sump for months with very little lighting.

star polyps. Although...you should exercise caution with these since they can often grow out of control as well. Even on the substrate, there's no limit to their propagating ability. But still, like of like growing grass under water that's not entirely algae.

Re: Hardiest Coral

Zoanthids are easy beginner corals. Acans and micros are great beginner corals. They are extremely Hardy. But the Acans and micros are expensive but they are bullet proof. They will live through anything.

Re: Hardiest Coral

I've got or had or taken care of most of what people have listed here except for the leathers. I melted a xenia and toothbrushed GSP to death. The rest are alive and healthy. We have a hairy mushroom colony that's getting HUGE, I don't know where that falls in easy to care for but I think it is.

Edit: I should clarify that they are all alive IN SPITE of my care...

Re: Hardiest Coral

zoos, are extreamly hardy easy to frag, thier toxin is the deadliest known to man but you realy have to stress them and you either have to breath it in or get it into and open wound. now when im fragging or stressing them( to make them spread more) i where rubber gloves. they do like high light but i recomend putting them on bottom to make them grow up the rock. thanks fish
