| Reefing Addict ![]() | Torch Coral I have a 8-9 headed torch which was doing awesome, till some idiot (me) put a bubble coral too close to the torch... The bubble is winning, and killed 4 heads in two days.. It can not reach the other heads of the torch, but I am not sure if I should break off the dead heads or just leave it be... I am curious if the dead torch heads, which have a mugus on the ends, can effect the living and happy heads? Please help me out with a quick decision, just so I don't lose more heads! |

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Torch Coral If it's the branching torch you should be a ble to break it off with your hands but if the branches are too thick then use pliers or Dremel to cut them off. Quote:

| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Torch Coral That pic looks like the bubble killed the torch heads. Brown jelly disease is bad and can spread throughout your tank. I suggest dipping the torch in an iodine solution (lugos, etc) and keep a VERY close eye on other LPS in the tank for signs. It is a very quick killing bacteria but can be controlled if you're diligent. On a side note, have you tried feeding the bubble? Mine would eat like an anemone! Large pieces often...

| Wannabe Guru ![]() | Re: Torch Coral LPS corals are susceptible to this infection the flesh will almost disintegrate, if your torch has it you'll notice. They can become infected in holding tanks and spread it. Was the Torch healthy with full expansion when you bought it ?

| Plate Coral | Re: Torch Coral The torch should be ok, just make sure you move the corals far away from each other. You can see the sweeper tentacles that the bubble has formed. It will continue to kill the torch heads if allowed, and judging from the picture it should be able to reach the remaining torch polyps.
