wow I did snap this a while ago.. lost 4 heads from my bubble coral

i think snapping with pliers is safer... i just did this last night.

if you snap it with your hands you can cut yourself badly, and also run the risk of a jagged, or uneven break.

having a dremel to wear down the edge to something easily mountable helps too.
