Needing ID

Came to me as an Oxypora, but I'm not sure it is. All the growth seems to have generated from one central mouth, in a circular shape. The yellowish bumps are different than my oxys too. It does have several very small mouths all around, but none as large as the central one in the middle.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Larry

Looks like a Shroomapora...just kidding. Sorry, but I couldn't resist. Good luck with the ID.

I know this is an old thread but it looks like an Oxy to me!

Re: Needing ID

Randy got one at IMAC just like it. He thought oxy at first too, but isn't sure either now. It DOES look allot like an oxy, but I have never seen one grow in such a circular pattern around one large eye.

Larry, what about this piece. The description sounds accurate to your piece!

Re: Needing ID

BTW, here's another one we're trying to ID. Looks kind of like echinophyllia, but it is MUCH smoother.

Pics dont do it justice. Its a pretty teal color.

Re: Needing ID

Snagged a couple more pics of the first one. Here's a closer pic of the main corrallite, and you can see all the smaller ones. Its cool how it all seems to originate from the larger one in the middle. I imagine if you fragged it, one of the smaller ones would resume the primary role, and get larger, and the coral would start the circular growth pattern around it. Might just have to find out.

Could it be Mycedium elephantous?
