Well I don't have any YET but from what I have read. Lowto Med light gives the best coloration and the Sweepers are deadly. I have seen pics of them Toasting Acan Lords and Ricordea within minutes of contact. Randy or one of the experts can chime in with more info.

Is this correct? What do they produce in terms of sweeper tentacles, growth rate etc.
Just asking because it would be cool to have some bright colors on the bare bottom of my sps tank. (I'm espcially worried about the flow and light concerns)
They are an easy to keep coral. I get better color out of them under low light. The last two pics I posted were under PC lighting. I had the pink echino colony under brighter MH lighting, and is was not as deep pink as the ones under pc lighting. The bottom of an SPS tank will be fine, as long as it's not to bright on the bottom. They only need a small amount of flow. Not all of them have long sweepers. My pink just gets feeding tentacles around the mouth at night. But my green echino sends out long sweepers. So watch where the current is blowing, as to not have your prized coral down wind. I also try to feed my bright red one. For some reason, it grows really slow. The green echino is the fastest I've encountered. A 2" frag can easily be a 6" colony is less than a year.

Here is an old article on Echinophyllias. I think it was written about 4 years ago, before anyone really knew or kept Echinos in there tanks.

K, I'm setting up a seperate "frag" eye candy tank....
The display tank won't keep em happy, way too much light (my sps grow on the undersides from the light reflecting off the bottom of my bb).
mmm, this will be fun...

I'm also interested in learning more about these corals...
What are the requirements for these critters?

Very nice score Jenn, that red will color up quite a but. That green one I am pretty sure isn't an enchino. I almost bought one a few months back, the guy didn't know what it was and thought it may have been an australiamussa rowlyensis (spelling?). I disagreed, but have no idea what it was. Thats remarkably similar. Nice scores!

Yah I know the green one is not a echino...I am trying to find out what it is. The guy I bought it off of said it came in as an acanthastrea rotundaflora, I like it whatever it is.... I bought it cause of the fleshiness and the fact that I have not seen something like it before. Any ID help would be much appreciated
