| Tuxedo Urchin | Re: "gorrila nipples" question def not a new polyp. i would suggest an iodine dip. this may help the polyp come back. and to answer your original ?, new polyps will come in directley next to the old one's. not affecting whether the others are opening or not. it may take a little bit for this to happen but when it does, it will not stop lol. mine all grow rather rapidly. gl, hope your gorilla's do great!

| Golden Moray | Re: "gorrila nipples" question polyps can take several weeks to acclimate to a new tank. Polyps staying closed for a couple days is not an immediate cause for alarm but it should be monitored. Sometimes increasing flow around the polyps can help. There are certain irriraters that can cause a polyp to stay closed like aiptasia or certain tube worms. So look for those. Its also not uncommon for a polyp or two to detach itself as a reaction to the stress of moving. If the polyps don't start to show signs of opening within the next 24/48 hours I'd try moving them or giving them another dip in a coral dip mix. If you start seeing signs of melting I'd take more immediate action.

| Reef Lobster | Re: "gorrila nipples" question If a single polyp is staying closed, it could have simply been damaged during transport or similar. Unless you have multiple polyps closed, I would simply observe and be patient. Pulling the entire coral/frag to dip it because you have one finicky polyp is acting hastily IMO.
