Elegance Coral Pictures.

I love Elegance corals, would this be a good place to put a thread devoted to them? Here is a pic of mine. Teal with pink tips, I'll get a pic up tomorrow of it without the actinics on. I think it looks even better without the actinics on.

Re: Elegance Coral Pictures.

I've had it for about a year now I guess? When I got it it was already pretty big and has grown more since then. It's pretty crazy how far out it expands considering how small the actual base is. I was a bit worried about keeping one myself as I didnt know if I'd be able to keep it alive, I had a fox coral die for some reason not long before I got the elegance so that had me a bit worried. From what I can tell it is the lighting that is keeping it alive as it never eats any food.
I've read a lot of things about how you are suppose to keep them on the bottom of the tank in the sand bed and not in the rock work as it can lead to them dying. I think thats what happened to my fox coral. But I've had it up in the rock work right at the top of the tank under the lights and it seems to love it up there.

Re: Elegance Coral Pictures.

ill try to post a pic of my elegance today.i bought it about 8 months ago and it has doubled in size since i got it.its now a little bigger than a softball when opened.i feed it silversides once a week and it loves it(not a must though).i keep it on the bottom of my rockwork in low to medium alternating current and its doing great.just thought id share my info since this seems to be a difficult coral to keep in captivity.

also seems to thrive more when sitting sideways in rockwork

Re: Elegance Coral Pictures.

It's nice to hear of the Elegance doing well for some of you.
We had one about 3 years ago and ended up giving it to Eric as it started dying about 3 months after we got it.

Re: Elegance Coral Pictures.

that is a gorgeous elegance coral... I have always admired them but never had the nerve to try one. I have also heard of how hard they are to keep. Great job!!!
