| They misunderestimated me ![]() | one cherry pick for today Well, I was going through Dr mac's sight looking at the slim pickings they got for this week and noticed they have this HUGE sarementosa colony. I always love the irridescent colors on these guys. http://www.drmaccorals.com/sys-tmpl/...iesa&UID=10076 ![]() ![]() I would guesstimate it is about 8-10inches long. Buyer beware though, I am ALWAYS leary about purchasing any wild colonies that size, they are much harder to take care of and acclimate to captivity than smaller colonies.

| Neon dottyback | We have a LFS in town here that was bringing in huge wild collected colonies of these and after eating a bunch of them he finally quit. Big colonies like this make me sad as they have next to no chance to acclimate to captive aquaria. Someone buys a big colony like this and what do they think it's going to do??? Buy frags and enjoy watching them grow out, thats where the enjoyment of this hobby is. They should be left in the ocean.

| They misunderestimated me ![]() | I agree with you sue. I still buy wild colonies, but I typically only purchase small ones as they acclimate much better to cptivity. I also tend to stick to purchasing stags or other hardier looking growth forms. I try to stay away from the tables, and tri colors. They either bleach, rtn, or just brown out. That is why I'm a big fan of the bali and fiji aquacultured corals. They are still technically wild, but they ship em at a small size so they do tend to do quite well, they also tend to specialize in corals that will do well in captivity anyways.

| Neon dottyback | I think these Bali aquacultured sps corals are the best thing since sliced bread. I have a few and plan on getting more. They are so much hardier than wild while they are still technically wild but so much better and easier to keep. I have a Bali frag that seems to be growing into a table type form and while that freaks me, it is coloring up nice as my LFS had it under bad lighting. It is developing nice purple tips and my other 3 are just as nice in their own way.
