Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

I didn't even think about the oil filter wrench.

ok does you unit shut off when you not using it. Do you have float valves on water change buckets and when their full does your unit shut off or do you always turn it on and off?

the instructions will be very good and very straight forward so next to nothing for plumbing knockledge

Re: Zero Waste 75gpd Ro/di Units!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would be as simple as adding a "T" fitting to the HOT side and hooking the "Waste" line up to that side?

I'm VERY interested in this unit and how it works.

Re: Zero Waste 75gpd Ro/di Units!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I opted to not use the saddle vavle (Due to easy access under my sink and wanting to be able to remove the system and take it with me with now "Visible" evidence once I leave and just added a "T" fitting to the line where I can screw and unscrew the supply line to the RO/DI unit. This should be just as easy. I can totally remove my existing one right now in less than 5 minutes. When I'm gone there will be no evidence that my "Science Project" (that's what the Land Lord calls it) was ever even there.

i understand but the waste has to go in hot water supply to stay away from the cold water intake. Theres other adapters that can be hooked up to the flex pipe to goes to the sink. theres options!

No it does not. Right now I have it hooked into the cold water line in the basement(room adjacent to the tank) and the waste line tapped into the basement sump system so it just drains into that. I dont have a float valve set up yet either--just me turning on the valve to the unit from the water line.

Oh yeah I understand that. I was planning to just install another "T" identical to the one on the COLD side that FEEDS my RO/DI unit to feed the WASTE back into the HOT side.

Do you have anything as far as pics or drawings so I can see what it looks like hooked up? I can't get my mind around how it's able to FORCE water "upstream" on the HOT side.

Heck, I should have asked this too--since I dont have a "hot" water line there, how where will the waste water go?-- is it plumbed back into the cold or turned around some other way..
