Jasper's 1st Anniversary

Jasper is now a year old! He's gotten HUGE after he started eating 1/2" pieces of krill meant for the fuzzy dwarf lionfish. Burrow has become quite elaborate, he has excavated a large area under the rockwork in the right tank and lined the walls with rubble. He covers up the porthole every night with a big rock or shell and spends a while each day rearranging the rubble around the hole and moving sand around.

Still my favorite fish (no small compliment with over 50 in this tank!)

You can get the full res tank shot here. Burrow is about half way between the green fuzzy mushrooms and tubastrea in the right lower corner, Jasper's head is just barely visible.

Beautiful tank and great pictures.

Thanks for the success story, that's why I'm on this forum because as you know most threads on other forums say it's next to impossible to keep our fish alive.

I agree. I almost gave up on bluespots.

At this point I would say they are similar to my three leopard wrasses -- once well acclimated into the system they are good eaters and hardy. That process can take months though, and during that time they may perish sometimes for no apparent reason. And of course given any opportunity they will jump out. Probably it is stress or adverse environment conditions that bring on their demise.

Re: Jasper's 1st Anniversary

A little OT but what are you feeding the Dendronepthya? How long have you had it?

Re: Jasper's 1st Anniversary

Congrats on the anniversary! I just moved my first bluespot from quarantine to my 140 gallon display. It seems to be doing ok.

I have a question. What type of cover do you use on the tank to keep Jasper from making a break for it? I am looking for a cover that does not block the light from my corals.

Thanks
