| Acropora | Bluespot worries... I've had my BSJF for about 2 months. I see no sign of disease and he is eating. However, for the last 24 hours he seems to have left his various holes that he has dug and is just hanging out on the open sand. Is this normal? I'm concerned because I had a buddy that lost one and his acted very similar before its demise, a mere 24 hours later. I do have a QT tank set up but I hate to pull him simply out of paranoia. Does anybody else have a BSJF that has settled in and feels comfortable for extended times right out in the open? |

| Golden Moray | Re: Bluespot worries... So he swims in the open, but he doesn't look clumsy or anything right? Yes my BSJF used to do that. It just means they are comfortable with their enviornment. Mine usually stuck close to the burrow. Like this but was almost never in the burrow. He jumped though. ![]()

| Acropora | Re: Bluespot worries... He's not really open swimming, rather he's laying on top of the sand in the open instead of in his usual position in a hole. It freaks me because they are normally kinda skiddish. I don't notice hard breathing, and can't judge clumsiness as he's not moving much. I did just stick some scallop on a skewer, and he did eat fom it, so that's good. Still, this has me worried. |

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: Bluespot worries... There could be something in the sand bothering him. I would pull it and quarantine if your set up for it. (is it cycled and everything?)Once they start to degrade it happens fast. Or for me it did. I lost one a year or so ago, your description sounds very familiar to me. Do you have worms living in your sand? Can you see them from the bottom of the tank?

| Acropora | Re: Bluespot worries... I did just check the bottom of the tank, and yes I see a few sporadic worms, but not many. He's back out in the open again now ![]() Its too late for me to try to pull him now, so I think I'll check him in the morning. If I QT him, what do you suggest I treat him for? He shows no visible signs of disease, and I'm sure no one is bothering him. |

| Fuzzy Sticks ![]() | Re: Bluespot worries... I would not treat him for anything. This is just a precaution encase something is bothering him. A safe haven mind you. I would stir the sand a bit with a thin stick and see if there might be a large one your not aware of. It will also give you the opportunity to observe the fish closer over time in a controlled tank.

| Acropora | Re: Bluespot worries... Well he looked good this morning and was poking his head out of a crevice in a rock and went after some food, so I'm hoping he's ok and it just me being nervous. I'll monitor him more closely today and remove him if he continues to act strange. |

| Acropora | Re: Bluespot worries... Thank you Lynn, I think it is working! He is back to more "normal" BSJF behaviour today and he's still eating well and going after food. I think he's good. To be on the safe side I did a 20% water change today as well just to cover that end of things. My readings all look fine, but I figured it can't hurt. |

| Plate Coral | Re: Bluespot worries... My BSJF will occasionally do that for a day and then will end up back in his burrow. I think maybe they're just exploring their options when they do that. Unless he looks lazy or has visible signs of stress/disease he should be ok. Best of luck with him, Bubbles and I will keep our fingers & fins crossed for your little guy.

| Madame Klanganator ![]() | Re: Bluespot worries... Just reading this now, Robert.. I hope your blue spot is okay. Isn't it amazing how much worry our fishy friends can cause?! Hopefully he justs feels comfortable in your tank and that's why he's out and about. Still eating is a good sign I would think!
