| Watch this Ma! | Re: This is wierd :( I read this thread and I'm very sorry about your loss. These really are unique, fun, fascinating fish. I wonder, since these fish are jumpers and darn good ones, if they could be hurting themselves against the cover? And then I wonder how often they attempt to get out? Just a thought....

| Midas Blenny | Re: This is wierd :( I think I figured out what happened. My friend had the same thing happen to his tank. He said that when Mandrine gobies die they develop almost a "cacoon" of toxic slime. This causes an ammonia spike that lasts for about 4 hours. My manderine died right before all this happened and I couldnt get him out of the tank because he was behind all my rock work, and eventually my brittle star and CUC took care of him. |

| Cabbage Leather | Re: This is wierd :( Considering now the size of the system, Lynn is quite right. A dead anything in the (IMHO) mis-stocked marine system will send a jolt of poison through the system. The (smallish) size of the system adds to the likelihood that such a spike or poison shot will have a significant impact on the wellbeing of the ones still alive. Mis-stocked in the sense that I don't believe a Mandarin belongs in the size system you reported having.

| Over Achiever | Re: This is wierd :( Well Stefan, although you may never know exactly what happened, at least you are closer to an understanding. A lot can go wrong, in a short time, in a small volume of water. Again, my heart is broken for your losses. |
