| The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: Scotty's Spotty Yes sir! I hope to get one again eventually... definately after treating my fish for ichy. I am planning on QT it so that will be problematic without sand... Has anyone QT one successfully without it?

| Over Achiever | Re: Scotty's Spotty I know Lorraine tried it both ways without success. Soulbabel has QT'd two of them without substrate and swears by it. Here is the link to his/her post in the BSC thread. The Bluespot Club Soulbabel doesn't log on that often, but we have been following his/her success. Soulbabel has other posts about the process, but you have to look back in that thread. I beginning to think it has something to do with intestinal parasites from the wild. |

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: Scotty's Spotty I do have a question: Lorraine posted a pic of one o fher BSJFs before it's demise (sorry Lorraine!!) and it had sort of darkish areas on its body. An LFS has three of them (well, a week ago they did) and two had that darkishness on their bodies too, the third is pretty "clear" yellow with blue spots. Did anyone find out if that had anything to do with the fish's death?

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: Scotty's Spotty Framerguy - You need to take a deep breath, we don't want you to drop dead. Kathy - I would stay away from any Bluespot that doesn't have nice clear and colorful markings. The darkness and white patches are related to stress which in turn make them very prone to diseases. Woody - If I was to do a BS in QT, I would use a shallow sand bed with fresh clean sand, then do hyosalinity if needed. As long as the sand is fresh you won't get dieoff. You just can't treat the tank with copper if the sand is in it. I would choose a shallow sand bed (1" that he can pile higher if he wants to and some pvc for extra coverage) because it will be easier to observe him and remove him (or the sand) later than a deeper bed. Any sand bed will make him more comfortable. Diver's Den does a QT on these guys and mine arrived very happy. I admit that the path I chose was risky (a direct deposit to my display tank). Good luck with your QT. Can't wait for your Bluespot. I would highly recommend another one from Diver's Den. Dentoid - Soubabel just posted hat he lost one of his.
