Re: Scotty's Spotty

Now that shows exactly why we love these fish so much.
Just look at the character in that face.
Gotta loce it.

Re: Scotty's Spotty

Wowsers Scott, I can count nose hairs from here. lol

You have one of the most banana yellow jawfish I think I have seen to date.
Most of the ones I've seen locally are almost orange.

Any idea what the black spot is below the pupil and possible use?
Never noticed it before but with a closeup like that.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Scotty's Spotty

Scott, Your Spotty close up shots are incredible. I agree Spotty is one of the most banana yellow BSJF I've seen. My lfs had one that was also that yellow, until it jumped out of their display tank and ended up on their showroom floor.

Have you zoomed in on your pic and looked at the balck spot under his eye? Under 200% magnification, it looks like a hole! I've seen previous pics of Spotty and I've noticed it before. I always thought it was a black spot.

Re: Scotty's Spotty

Maybe some kind of second aperture for the pupil?
Maybe it works like the black smudge under football players eyes to help with sun glare.

If you had your picture taken that often you'd develop some "shades" too!

Re: Scotty's Spotty

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

Victor, I have often wondered about this second "pupil". I does look like an opening. It was not always there however. Here is a blow-up of a picture taken in Jan. '08. It is only on the left eye.

Basser, the yellow color is mainly on Spotty's head, his body is more of a brownish-orange.

Adam, it won't be long before you are enjoying this fish's comical antics. Still getting your tank ready for a BS?

Lynn, personality oozes out of this fish's pores, but you know that!

Re: Scotty's Spotty

Kathy, that is very true of this fish. In fact, Spotty is a big people watcher! It's fascinating the interest they show in what is going on outside of the tank.

BR(barney rubble) does that too. He swims out of the burrow to follow you across the tank. Defenitly my favorite fish.
