Scotty's Spotty - Page 14

Last night I fed my RBTA which, apparently when I wasn't looking, dropped the piece of krill it was suppose to be eating for dinner. Then Spotty proceeded to grab a hold of it, but it was too big for him to swallow. I was concerned at first that he was going to choke and the Heimlich manuever was going to be needed. He kept flaring his gills and trying to spit it out. Finally he managed to expectorate it just to grab it again! He did this over and over several time! It was comical! I finally reached in at one point that he spit it out and it startled him for long enough that the krill floated away. I rewarded him with a few smaller pieces of krill.

I've had them sit for like a 1/2 hour with a piece in their mouth that was intended for Mr Palani, but eventually they have been able to finish it up. There were several times I about attempted the Heimlich manuever myself!

My yellow clown goby does the same thing. It is a tiny fish but he routinely grabs food that is bigger than he is. Usually one of the bigger fish steals it away but sometimes he gets to keep it.

Spotty has been doing very well. The other day, my Yellow Watchman goby decided to move in with Spotty for a spell. It didn't last very long, until Spotty kicked him out. Here he is hanging out, soaking up the rays and just being cute!

Here is a video of Spotty. Towards the end of the video, you can see her defending her burrow from the flower anemone by blowing water blasts at it!

This is one comical fish and the one to watch!

Paying him overtime for the video? I think there was an earthquake during the video! Nah, guess not. It was cute. I could sit and watch him all day!
