| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club I'm going to have to build mine a cave. I got some tonga branch and rubble in the sump, but haven't figured out where to place it in the tank. I'm running out of room fast! Of course, "Jaws Palace" will be the top priority!

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club I am so excited for you guys. These are truly remarkable fish and I will get another at some point. They are just too cute not to. I will be anxiously awaiting pics of all the new arrivals. Scott Dotty is so cute. You get some great pics of her. Thanks for sharing them.

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club It won't be the same without you having one too, but I understand. I am so nervous about mine, especially since I have to QT it first. Better build the escape-proof lid today.

| Tunicate | Re: The Bluespot Club A couple of little white spots on my BSJF today. Probably about 4 or 5, tiny spots kind of like ich looks. He's also acting a little odd, swimming high in the water column to pear at the lights. Any suggestions, other than crossing my fingers? |

| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club Yeah, I'd cross my fingers, but I'd also try a water change. I wouldn't mess inside the tank much though. Anyone else in the tank acting differently? Is he eating? Taking it then spitting it out? How long have you had him again?

| Tunicate | Re: The Bluespot Club He's eating like a pig. He is the only fish in the tank; numerous corals and inverts all acting and looking normal, however. I'm not necessarily overly concerned with his behavior, as he has exhibited a lot of slightly strange behavior since I put him in the tank. One of his favorite maneuvors is to hover just below the surface of the water like he sees something of tremendous interest up there...then hover back down. He'll stay about an inch from the surface for a good 30 or 40 seconds when he does this. I would be worried if he were gasping or looked panicked, but it's all quite deliberate and relaxed. I think he really believes he sees something. My valient skunk cleaner shrimp has tried many times to clean the Bluespot...but alas, the Bluespot just can't get into the whole idea. Despite some rather violent rejections, the skunk keeps trying. Hopefully the Bluespot gives in, as the skunk could take care of regular ich in pretty short order. I have had the fish about ten days. I am concerned since this is right in the time frame when others have developed the dreaded "white spot disease". re: water change. I added a shrimp and coral today, which actually resulted in a decent mini-change when I topped back off. I will do another small one tonight. All my tests and readings look good, however. UPDATE: more spots are now visible. Looks like classic ich rather than the "mysterious white spot" that I've seen described with respect to BSJF's, however. |

| Over Achiever | Re: The Bluespot Club My BS exhibits the same behavior from time to time. Hovering in the water column looking up as if there is something there. She will slowly inch her way up, with trepidation. This is usually when she decides to take a jump. It's as if she is waiting for the right moment to jump. Most of the time she stays half in her burrow because the tangs are swimming around. She always comes out of her burrow after lights out and swims all around the tank, while the other fish are hiding/sleeping in the rock work. I think she is feeding on the nocturnal fauna that come out after lights out. However, I have never witnessed her eating anything at this time, usually I just scare her when I approach the tank and she starts swimming around frantically. By morning she is back in her burrow, just a sweet as can be. It like Dr Jecklefish and Mr. Jawhyde. LOL! |
