Re: The Bluespot Club

Craig, Pics posted on mugshot thread. Sorry they're so cheesey. They're the only ones on my computer...

Anyway, I just got my bluespot from reef hot spot. He is doing pretty well, but I don't have a great feeling about it for some reason. I already lost the purple firefish he was shipped with. He died in the QT two days after their arrival. The bluespot and the firefish were both caught in the corners of their bags. They were stuck under the plastic so tight that when I turned the bags upsidedown, they were still at the top of the bag, with no water... I don't know how long they were like that for, but the firefish was not right from the beginning... "Cranky", the bluespot is doing alright and eating like a champ. He has not made a burrow yet, but I think we're on the verge cause he's making a pile of rubble and shells in a semi-circle in the front of the tank. He has been pretty vicious with my two clowns today, but I took it as a good sign, and they don't seem too bothered by him. Hopefully he will live a long and happy life with us. I'm seriously considering moving his three roommates to a different tank and just giving him the tank he's in now. I think he'd be very happy that way.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Okay, we have burrow! Right in the FRONT of the tank where I was hoping it would be. I'm stoked!
I will take pics as soon as the lights come on. After that though I think I might move the other fish in his tank somewhere else (like convert one more of my freshies to salt, hehe - what will the hubby say!?!). I know I will be doing this eventually, but do you guys think I should wait a couple days or longer to do the move so I don't put stress on Cranky when he just settled in? I'm not sure if it would make a difference... If I can't get them easily, I'll give up and try again another day. I'm sure Cranky would love his own private suite...

Re: The Bluespot Club

Unless the other fish are causing a problem I would leave them in with "cranky". Tank size would also be important but many people keep their blues in community tanks with no problem.
Glad your guy is settling down and building. We would love some pics.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Finally got around to uploading the new pics. Here's Cranky in his new burrow.

I think I will leave the other fish in as long as possible but the clowns really do seem to bother him. They don't seem to notice him at all, but he def. notices them! Every time they go near him (which is often since he set up his borrow right where they hang out), he nips at them and chases them off. He always seems to be on the look-out for them. Hopefully they will work it out, but if not, out they go!

Re: The Bluespot Club

Cranky is looking good (but not very cranky at all)! He chose the spot knowing that the clowns were right there. I wouldn't move them right now unless they start picking on him.

When ordering online, make sure you check into the guarantee. I'm not current on what Reef Hot Spot or Blue Zoo offers any more as I haven't ordered in a while. You do want a guarantee to protect you from situations like smashed bags.

I ordered a Bluespot from Blue Zoo. It is one of the ones that jumped out of the tank if I remember right. They were very personable in meeting my ordering demands (I wanted the perfect Bluespot and an Allard Pair). I explained how many Bluespots I had lost and "picked their brain". They were never in a hurry to get rid of me or to just ship one out because they had one. I needed them shipped on specific dates too. They held them for me (Diver's Den will not). The person I talked to on the phone was involved in picking out my fish. The Allard Pair didn't pair up at my place, so I called and worked through that with them and was treated very fairly eventhough they had been there and paired up for over a month.

BTW, whoever you decide to order from, I wouldn't order based on the website, I would call and make sure they have them available at the time you order.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Good to know, if Lsheldon's lives for the next month I will order from Reefhotspot.com. They are $100, $130 at bluezoo.
