| Tridacna maxima ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club Welcome Your little BSJF are awesome. I'm voting for a pair, but like Scott said, don't really know. In theory the male's mouth is larger (since he holds the eggs). Come August you might find out if they are a pair as the male will turn half white. Again, a warm welcome to the club. Lorraine

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club Ok Here is a question for all the bluespot owners past/present. I really whant to re-scape sunshine's tank including adding a significant amount of sand for him to play in. Obviously this will destroy the tunnel system he has built. Shoud I forget it and leave as is. Shoult I gather up as much of his building material as I can and keep it to add back in. agter the re-scape and sand additions. Should I take him out of the tank and just be very carerul or should I try to catch him while I rescape and add sand. I reallly don't like the current scape but will not want to do anything that will stress him any more than is necessary.

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: The Bluespot Club Just a thought, but could you put a PVC ring around his doorway to keep it from filling with new sand? Would there be die off from the top layers of the established sand?

| Over Achiever | Re: The Bluespot Club Lynn, I don't see any reason why you can't reaquascape. Sunshine will make new burrows. A couple of things to think about. 1. If you add more sand there will be a sand storm, thus low to no visibility. You don't want to bury Sunshine. 2. Same thing if you rescape. You could crush him if something falls or you just can't see him when moving the rock or placing it back in the tank. 3. It's going to be stressful to catch him and to do so, you'll probably have to remove the rock anyway. That is unless you have a special bond with Sunshine like Michael has with Jose. In that case he should just swim into your hand and let you take him out of the tank. They do seem to get very tame. Spotty is not afraid of my hand in the tank and will often swim up to it looking for a hand out. I do not try to touch him though. In fact, he becomes more bold and leaves his burrow anytime I approach the tank. Can you rescape without moving the bottom layer of rockwork? |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: The Bluespot Club I could leave the bottom as is. I was already going to add the sand last for stability and visibility. I really don't want to stress him but I am thinking the longer I wait the worse it will be.
