Thanks man, he seems to be doing just fine. I just fed him some frozen plankton (thawed of course) with tweezers right above where his old (and perfectly placed) burrow is. He eats the plankton right out of the tweezers. Anyway, I dropped a piece in the burrow and he shot down to get it and seems to have rediscovered and reclaimed his cool burrow. The yellow watchman goby seems happy to have his barnacle all to himself again.

Bubbles back in his burrow

Re: The Bluespot Club

Varga, Michael has had his Jose for over a year. I have had Spotty for about 8 months. Prior to Spotty, I had Dotty for 6 months before she found a way out of the tank.

Justin, that's great! Bubbles is beautiful. Enjoy the antics!

Justin, Bub2 is looking great and your photo taking skills are great too. Nice shots!

Varga, in the past, I had several that lived a few years. For some reason when I lost the one in Dec 2006 from a cycling tank, I had a difficult time replacing it. I went through several and had given up, but now my little BJ seems very happy and settled in for the long haul!

Re: The Bluespot Club

Sunshine is always a suprise.
After trashing the left side of the tank with lots of rocks and tunnels, whe has now moved to the right side of the tank under an overhang. Of course this was my Watchman's home and I haven't seen him since. Hopefully he has found a new home.
Meanwhile I think Sunshine is the lazyest fish I have ever seen. If you don't put food right in front of him he doesn't eat it. He will swim up to it and look at it then go right back home. Makes dinner time quite the pain since I have to be really careful not to overfeed that tank. The HA is already started to take over. My sea hare is starting to mow it down but boy does he have some work ahead of him.

Oh, Sunshine has you wrapped around her little finger... It is kinda like feeding kids. Don't give in to her demands. Feed her like everyone else. On the rare occasion you can spoil her (about once a week). Have you tried to reposition your pumps so that the food gets closer to her hole?

Thanks, unfortunately this morning Bubbles has abandoned his burrow again and gone to the other side of the tank.

Thank you although I'm not sure my photo skills are great as much as I am obsessive, I stand in front of the tank taking a million pics and sift through them keeping only the decent ones.

Thanks to everyone else too, hopefully Bubbles #2 will settle in and be happy for quite some time.

Re: The Bluespot Club

We are going to re-do the sump and plumbing this weekend. There is just not enough flow to do anything in that tank. We have a larger pump lying around for some reason so we are going to swap them out. The original pump will probably be used for the chiller when it gets installed.
One thing at a time though. Gotta be careful with the funds until I find a new job.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Lynn, sorry to hear about your job. I'm in the same boat and it is a pain.

Justin, it's not really a bad thing for him to move around and is very typical for a few weeks after you get them. Fortunately, most of them like to find a spot right in front where you will be able to take tons of photos. For the time being though, you might want to cut back on the photo sessions (though we do like a good photo) to help reduce the stress that he is under. If you do take his photo, take it without a flash if you can.

Thanks for that input, I appreciate it. I've been wondering how normal it is that he move around so much. I assumed that once he put so much effort in to making that nice burrow he'd stay there. As for the photos, I suspect you're right, it'd be better if I lay off the photo shoots for now. I never use flash when photographing in the tank but I'm sure my looming over the tank with something shiny in my hands is a bit strange to the new guy. I've got plenty of pictures for now so I'll take your advice and keep it to a minimum (only the really cool things I can't resist snapping a photo of).
Thanks again.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Justin, I was wondering like you how many burrows can they have? Digger is in a 29 gallon Biocube and he pretty much has the tank to himself. He has no fewer than 3 burrows, 1 on the left side, 1 on the right side, and 1 in the front middle part of the tank. He will frequent all 3 at different times. Instead of the old saying "Busy as a Bee", it should be "Busy as a BlueSpot Jawfish"!!

Re: The Bluespot Club

My little guy stays put in his hole, but I have had others that liked to move around to several different spots. This one doesn't even come out to eat, he waits for it to come to him.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Hey everyone. Congrats to everyone who has a new Blue.
I think that once they get a burrow in a spot that they like, they tend to stay there. Jose is a wierd BSJF. He has a burrow, but he acts more like an anthia than a Jawfish. He is always out swimming with the crowd. But at night he is in his little home. Also I think that since in our tanks they do not have the sand depth theydo in the wild, they build long intricate burrows. In the wild I think they can keep going down. In our tanks they hit glass, so they go sideways. At least that is what Jose has done. His burrow takes up half the tank.
Good Luck everyone
~Michael
