Barb, I would add one when you think your tank is stable, or more specifically when you have experienced no deaths and everything in the tank is healthy for at least two months since any additions. Once you have one, QT new arrivals (including corals) will keep the little guy and everyone else healthy too.
Thank you, Lorraine! I have my sponges cooking in my sump, getting ready for the QT setup. They've been in there for one month now. I'm not adding anything until the end of June, so I'll be keeping close track until then of the life that's currently in there, and parameters. At that point we'll see where I'm at.

Barb, I added my first BS 4.5 months after I set up my tank. She did very well and at one time was the longest living BS in the Club. Unfortunately, I left the jump guard a skew and she jumped out. Do not underestimate the size of a gap they can get through!

I have noticed the small amount of space they can get through. It's amazing, and it's also NOTED! Thanks!

You might have already seen this in my journal or BJ's thread, but just in case. He was very active and was proud of his palace so let me shoot away.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Great news....Rocky is back to normal!!! He got really bad there for a while but I never gave up on him. Now he is eating, building, and throwing hermit crabs around ( I think that is his favorite thing to do ). I treated him with erythroycin, and I have to say that is what saved him. After I treated he was back to normal in two days Still don't know what happened to him, but I think that my tube anenome might have stung him, so I removed the anenome.

Re: The Bluespot Club

It seems that once they live in captivity for a few months then the biggest danger is them jumping out.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Stephan, that is great news!

Varga, they don't have the best track record for acclimating to captivity and they have gotten a bad rap from these boards. If you get a healthy one from the get go, then keeping them in captivity is a breeze. Like Lynn said, it just becomes a matter of keeping them in the tank.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Alright, I've decided to try again. My first Bluespot didn't make it, quite possibly a freak bristle worm accident. Since then, I went on a bristle worm removing rampage just to be sure it doesn't happen again. In any case, two weeks ago I got a call from my LFS letting me know that they had a few in stock. I rushed down after work and chose the best looking one. My wife really liked the name Bubbles from the first one so this new little guys is Bubbles #2 but we'll just call him bubbles for short.
He first took over a large barnacle decoration that my yellow watchman had been using as his home/cave. Then Bubbles made a few half-hearted burrows. He finally made an awesome burrow right in the front corner of the tank. He was in there for about a week, constantly improving and enlarging it. Just two days ago he moved out of it and had been just swimming around like he was homeless. Today i came home and he's now back in one of the large barnacle decorations just one hole over from the Yellow Watchman Goby. It's like a little fish apartment.
So without further ado, heeeeeers Bubbles! (#2)

Bubbles in a barnacle

Bubbles in his really cool burrow right in front of the tank

Bubbles swimming around homeless over the past 2 days

Bubbles in the barnacle apartment with the yellow watchman
