So glad you were able to rescue him.
I am always scared that I will do the same thing and forget to put the cover back on after feeding.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Sad storyfor you all, I got a BS about a week prior to having reconstructive knee surgery. Somehow after a month the bugger had rocks shift onto him about and because i've been so busy w/ rehab I look into the tank less and less. I found the body within 18 hours of him being killed and removed the body, next morning the tank spiked and killed the rest of the fish 2 clowns and a rainsford goby. Infuriating to say the least to find him pinched, and then to loose the rest of the livestock, all the inverts in the tank survived somehow. That's what it looks like happened anyway.

I'm on the fence about just taking this down for now, but i would need to find a place for my SPS colonies...

How sad. I am so sorry for you.
Don't tear down the tank. Just give it some time and then re-stock. Or kist keep it a coral only tank. That can be awesome as well.

Re: The Bluespot Club

I'm about 1 month post-surgery, and the time line looks like i'll get to run on it again in about 5 months. For now, I can walk with a limp at about half normal pace but the nerves don't fire right I look like I'm sorta in a brace although i'm not. I would rather not take the tank down of course, but this is as bad a loss as i've ever had in this hobby. I doubt I take the tank down, but i have to get a chiller and some new clowns as the first order of business.

Hang in thre and good luck with the tank. I'm 11 weeks out of recostructive surgery on my left knee. No limp. riding a bike, can jog ever so lightly. Hang in there!

Re: The Bluespot Club

I guess it is okay to post this stuff here cause it lead to the demise of a BSJF. I had a left ACL tear w/ hamstring reconstruction. The sad thing is my next purchase has to be a chiller and a new halide bulb for the summer instead of restocking that's what makes it so disappointing. I really like Blue spots but 2 down sucks 3x as bad as losing 1.

Re: The Bluespot Club

I hear you on that! It's why I even had to leave the club for so long.

Take your time and get the chiller and lights, a BSJF will be there for you down the road.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Sorry to hear about your Bluespot 30x30. I lost three guys last year due to the unknown disease. I stepped back for a few months, but last October I picked up my new guy. Happy to say that he is still with me. Hang in there. You will eventually pick up a new guy.

Your little guy looks great Lorraine!!!

Re: The Bluespot Club

So does this little guy qualify me to join the club?

I got him yesterday at my LFS. I was looking at one at a different LFS that didn't look so healthy (some sort of white fungus looking thing on it) that I kept revisiting every day to see if it would clear up. I decided to go to a different LFS and to my surprise they had 3 healthy and beautiful little Blue Spots! What luck, I was able talk the guy into selling it to me for the same price as the other place was going to sell me the "sick" one. $75, not a bad deal as far as I can tell. This little fella has been exploring the tank and has made 3 burrows so far as I can tell. Unfortunately the most recent and most complete one is on the side of the tank about half way back but I'd imagine he'll be making a few more as time goes on. I put some coral rubble of various sizes in a few piles at the front of the tank. Hopefully he'll take advantage of those soon. We've decided to give our fish early 1900's gangster names for fun. So for instance our neon goby is "Smalls", the ocellaris pair are "Da Clown Bradas", and so on...

Meet "Bubbles Da Mouth"
