I got my second BS this morning, it has a very nice regular blue spot pattern, but he's got the "Charlie Rose" black eye going on, and a red line - seemingly an abrasion on his lip.

I did what basser suggested on another board, he may have done so here on this board too I just didn't see it. I set the 1" PVC pipe in the substrate with 1 45 degree angle. I acclaimated the fish in the bag, dumped it all to net the fish and transferred him into a second bag of my tank water, then secured a piece of 1" PVC with a rubber band to the top of the bag. I made inverted the bag directly over the burrow, and the fish did his reverse swim exactly where I wanted him.

I have a lot of hope that I won't loose this guy to aragonite or other mysterious causes. Coincidentally are there any characteristics that tell us if they are male/female? If it becomes a named fish, I have to decide between charlie or rose....no other public figures have black eyes currently.

Congratulations Cory! All the best with this new BS! As far as I've been able to tell and find in the literature, there are not a lot of differences in the sexes. I have heard that males have bigger heads and mouths, to accommodate the brood stock. I have also heard that males have small black spots on their face. The males will "flash" during courting and mating, this is when the upper half of their body will turn white. I don't think they do this unless there are females in the area.

30x30..... Glad to see you have another BSJF and like Scott, I wish you success with him. Try not to strees him and let him get adjusted to his new "digs"!

BTW, for some of you wannabe BS owners, I was on Live Aquaria tonight and they have 2 blue spots listed dor $139.99 each! They're in the Divers Den section!

I also see they have a pair of snowflake clownfish, you don't see these very often! But at $600 bucks... sheeesh!

Love those fish! Im going to get one soon, are they jumpers at all? is $130 good price for one? can I keep 2?

Hello Varga,

They ARE jumpers and you need a very secure top before you get one.

I would pay that price from Divers Den (they have QT them, dewormed them...)

I would start with one, unless you confirm with them that they are already being housed together (which I doubt they are).

This little guy better not bother my brains! He was under my monti plate yesterday and now has taken up residency under my brain. I suppose if you have to have something in your brain it might as well be a Bluespot. I will not complain.
