my BSJF, Spot is 2 months old and is my very first. he's eating all kind of meaty food that passes his/her burrow.

This is the longest that I have been able to keep a Bluespot. My guy has been with me since October 4th.

So... not even a month yet.

As far as a name... I haven't named him yet. I've just been calling him "Blue".

I don't remember if I read it already but how do you know if you have a male or female BSJF?

Craig, I will just sum mine up by saying that I have lost several this year, anywhere from 1-2 days to a few months. Losses have been from disease (5ish), injury (2), and jumping (3).

The longest I have had a Bluespot live is 1-2 years, 3 different times. Anyone keeping a Bluespot these days with a salinity of 1.021? That is what I used to keep mine at. Just curious. I was also thinking about the alk/calc. Since I used to use tap water, my calc was over 500 ppm, and alk 17 dKH. My pH was always 8.0. (You don't want to know what my nitrates and phosphates were.)

Spotty came into my life on October 5, 2007.

ekovalsky, Welcome to the Club. I submit that that abrasions on your BSs face and head could be from attempts to burrow. Some rubble is rough and sharp. I notice abrasions on my BS from time to time and I am convinced that it is from the continual rearrangement of his burrow.

I have always feed my tank, thus my BS, a variety of foods. Mysis, silversides, krill etc. In fact Euphausia pacifica (Krill) seem to be a favorite of my BS. Another thing that I do is a few times a week feed after lights out when the moon lights are on. This way the tangs and foxface are sleeping and Spotty gets his fill. For some reason he doesn't sleep and can spot the food without problems or being competed with by the faster, bigger fish.

Well, I only had my Harry 3 days. Currently BSJF-less I have asked my lfs to look for one starting January, I just spent about 2 hours reorganizing rock for when I do get him/her in. I figured I'd move more rock out so he has more ground area. Probably took out about 50 lbs or more of rock. I also got my lights in on friday and have them installed into the canopy and running now. 372W of T5s, 6-48" and 2-22". My tank is a weird hex front hence the different bulb sizes. I have only 2 fish right now, a mandarin dragonette and a banded shrimp goby. I may add a pair of bangaii cardinalfish once I get the BS in. This tank is strictly for my BSJF. Wish I could do a mated pair like Heinz.
Also, not realted to the BSJF, I have finished setting up my 55G BB. I will house a dwarf lionfish, 2 yellow striped maroons, and a blue spotted toby.

Other than that, everyones BS's are looking beautiful.

I can't believe you still have the poor thing! Oh my. So, you ever going to try again?

I will. I have to much on my plate atm and it will have to come from a reputable dealer. The one on ice died from a parasite i have no doubt. I am still waiting for Scott to set up the lab appointment.

kimoy - just noticed your question. I haven't been able to tell the difference really yet. When they are spawning there are distinct differences when the body of the male turns white.

Some research says that males have a larger jaw/mouth and females have a darker body.
