| Fire Coral | Re: The Bluespot Club Not sure on the flux of the tank I haven't seen any changes in the parameters. I had just checked ammonia, nitrite and nitrates earlier today and everything was fine. I did a 25% water change the morning of bringing him home and I dose with Oceans Blend 2 Part for trace elements and calcium. I am able to keep my Alveopora, Xenia, Sun coral and Frogspawn quite happy and they are somewhat sensitive. My Scooter Blenny(Chicken) is doing fine in there and if it was Brook, I think I would have seen some of the white stringy mucus. If I had I would have immediately started doing freshwater dips followed by formalin dips like I am doing with my false perc(Shirley) who is in a 10G QT tank dosed with malachide green. I am very familiar with Broolynella and it's symptoms as a I lost 1 false perc during treatment and my neon goby who popped out covered in white velvety string stuff and died after a freshwater dip, didn't even make it to formalin. I am unsure of what went wrong, when I got him out he was quite slimy, if it was Brook I think it would have affected its slime coating. I will postpone me getting another one at least until January, I will first get my new lights for this tank, my corals are doing ok with just 4 24" T5 HOs, but I want a bit more lighting and I want to be able to put my canopy back on. Its not the money I lost its the fish I lost that hurts....Jawfish are so.... beautiful.... I was a bit down earlier and really didn't feel like posting. I kinda felt like there was something I could have done to save him I thought I did well I was actually getting ready to go buy him live brine and mysis in case he had gotten hungry since I had just called my LFS and asked what they were feeding it. I am a bit down after a few deaths and really hate seeing fish die. I guess I will give it some though and get all my inverts in the tank before I get another BSFJ. Even though short lived I really enjoyed my Harry's presence. A beautiful fish species to which deserves to have dedication and proper care. |

| Over Achiever | Re: The Bluespot Club Craker on the first page of this thread there are links to pertinent information on this species. That way you don't have to read through the whole thing. With that being said there is a lot to learn from a practical standpoint by reading the observations and posts by each of the members and owners of the BSJF. If you are concerned by them being with bigger fish, I have not found it to be that big of a problem. I have a sailfin, hippo tang and foxface. My previous BS would defend her space, big time. Here is a picture of my departed Dotty. ![]() As far a water temps go. There is no evidence that cooler temperatures benefit this species or not. I keep my tank at 78. |
