Re: The Bluespot Club

Aaaaaaa. Close, but no cigar! You had me all excited. I know there are all kinds of wannabees, but there is no substitute for the gem of the Sea of Cortez! Pretty wrasse though.

I'll add you to the "wannabee" section of the first page. When you get the real thing, I'll move you to the big time leader board!

Re: The Bluespot Club

Maybe next time Caitrina.
We'll just have to be wannabees.
Gary the goby wants to be a bluespot soooo bad he has even built a cool house with a front porch and a back door. Here's a pic.

Just no spots. Oh well. I have to go break it to him gently. He's going to be heart broken.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: The Bluespot Club

I sadly report that one of my bsj passed away this morning. I'm thinking parasites had returned, as he had long stringy fecal matter for the last few days and wasn't eating. I treated the tank with Metronidazole about 3 days ago, but apparently was too late. He was breathing real heavy last night, and I woke up to find him dead. The other one looks really healthy though, I just hope he doesn't feel lonely.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Real bummer soulbabel.

What causes the parasites to return? Is it stress related?

Re: The Bluespot Club

I'm guessing that the parasites were never really cured the first time I treated the tank, and were able to just rebound in a few weeks. One thing I've learned from this, is if the BSJ has a reduced appetite, do your best to observe his fecal matter, as that can clue you in to what's possibly ailing the fish. I used this chart as a guide:
Fish Fecal Disorders

Talking Re: The Bluespot Club

Well, I'm glad to post that my LFS got me a BS for $80 and he will hold it for me until my tank cycles. Its great to get along so well with a store owner. I picked up the 75G hex front tank I am gonna use for the BS yesterday and today spent all day cleaning the tank, since it was used, and rinsing base rock and dead sand. Unluckily the sand I got from a friend was not as much as I thought. I am about 60 lbs short of getting past my min 4" sand bed. So, tomorrow I will buy the rest of the sand(unless someone in FL has some I can have for free!!!) and RODI water with salt mix to get the tank running. I will be dropping a hand full of raw shrimp, 4-6lbs of live rock from my existing tank along with a few scoops of LS. I will cross my fingers and hope my tank cycles soon. Oh, before anyone asks I wil not add the BS first I will add my scooter blenny and false perc in first to make sure the tank is in good living condition. I will probably stop by my lfs to get a pic of my soon to be BS and also a pic of his new home to be, once I get all the sand and rock in and the tank is running. All I can say is, I am excited!
*AGAIN IF SOMEONE IN FL HAS ABOUT 60 LBS OF FREE SAND THEY DONT NEED, I WILL GLADLY TAKE*
