OMG I would love to have a breeding pair. That male is very cool looking. I like his "Breed wit me Stance" LOL

Re: The Bluespot Club

I knew this would inspire you! Be the first BSC member to have a breeding pair. I'm considering it in my 90. First I have to get rid of my Sailfin tang, Hippo tang and perhaps my foxface. They are just getting to big and out of proportion for my tank.

So glad to hear everybody is doing so well.
Makes me jealous. I have to get more sand for the 90 before I can get another one. So for now I have to just sit here and watch all of the cool pics.

Re: The Bluespot Club

This is what I got to look at when I got home today:

The total price did hurt when I got my little gal, especially since she disappeared right away. Now it doesn't feel so bad (isn't she cute? ). You do pay for the exceptional guarantee and for the quarantine process. When I bought mine, I chose this one instead of one from the lfs for half the price. For me, I just feel that they do a better job with the QT process than I would.

Mommy's lil girl! She's a beauty. I see the gender has changed, which happens once they endear themselves to us.

Re: The Bluespot Club

I'm going with the black spot theory. Until I took this photo I really couldn't see that. I'm not quite sure that is true, but she looks like a girl !

Re: The Bluespot Club

Thanks Lynn. Can't wait until you get your tank up and going. It will be interesting to see what you decide on doing.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Great pic Lorraine! Looks like she's fan dancing for you!

I have a question for the Blue Spot club, are all jawfish equally hard to keep or is the Blue Spot a little more higher maintenance?
I saw a jawfish with a black head at my LFS the other day and the guy said $20. I thought he had to be kidding.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: The Bluespot Club

Good question Victor! The BSJF has proven to be a particularly difficult fish to keep in recent years. The exact cause is unknown. I will say, most all of the literature that I have read indicates that not to be the case with this or any other species of jawfish.

The one you saw may have been a Dusky or less likely, at that price, a Goldspecs jawfish. If you are considering a jawfish, give that Dusky a try, all jawfish are a load of fun to watch!

Re: The Bluespot Club

I'm currently reading the "Complete" Encyclopedia of the Salt water Aquarium and the only jawfish they show and mention is the yellowheaded one. A beautiful jawfish when you get to see the blue back half. The book has a little bit of outdated information, but on whole is a good reference.

I don't think a jawfish would get along in my 55 with Gary (was labeled a yellow headed sleeper goby, but the book lists as a blue cheeked goby)
He has built himself a very nice condo with a front lawn and a backporch. He's not a jawfish, but has loads of character. The book also says they do better in pairs, but I don't think I could keep 2 of them fed well. Not to mention that there would not be a square inch of sand untouched. lol

I'm just doing my research WAY in advance of my next tank upgrade.
I really want a jawfish on the list, just not sure if it will have spots. lol
Saw 2 in the same tank this summer for $69 each and then gone. No one has them..... alien abduction? or really good price? you decide. lol

Re: The Bluespot Club

What you saw was probably the tiger jawfish, or what Scott referred to as the Goldspecs. The only experience I have with jawfish is the Bluespot, so I can't say if the other ones are easier.
