Erector Set

Well I just got a new D&D Marine Terminator II Skimmer in. Looks really cool I got the idea of trying them from Edd13. D&D Sent me one as I am going to distribute them through the new business. It was fun putting together all the pieces. Now I need to install a low GPH pump for the primer pump & we well check for leaks. Pictures later tonight of the build.

Re: Erector Set

awww ... come on jack .... it only 5 or 6 hours to get mine built and leak free .... break out the book and slap it together....

actually you can test for leaks by filling it with RO and running it with the ball valves closed ... thats how i did mine

Re: Erector Set

I got so excited when I saw this that I drove over to (edit: oops just saw this is in a sponsors forum) and got one yesterday. Was pretty proud of myself when I put it together in under an hour. Then spent the rest of the day trying to make it leak free. Had to go to town for an o-ring for one of the unions. The one on the box was too small in diameter and wouldn't stay in the groove. Now I have the a very small drip coming from the recirc. pump itself, right around where you'd take it apart to clean it. There's an o-ring seal there so I cant figure out why I've got a leak. Thought I had very good alignment on the plumbing. Guess I'll take it apart again and try to realign it again.

Re: Erector Set

Oh yea, I tapped all the joints. (The directions and the instructional videos from the website mention that a time or two ) Only had to redo one. The leak I have is coming from the pump itself. It's ever so slight. I've got a towel under it and it's not even getting wet. The water's evaporating faster than the drip. Just checked it again and looks like maybe it has stopped.

Re: Erector Set

Is your recirc. pump rather noisy?

Re: Erector Set

mine got noisy when there was an air pocket in the pump/line ... did you purge the system per the instructions ... mine is a little noisy but the pump is external so i expected it ... though i was more annoyed with the air whistle from the air intake, till i realzed it was a good thing

Re: Erector Set

Well, I filled it first with the feed pump, if that's what you mean. As I read the directions the venturi should suck air and there's plenty of air going in. The body is full of micro bubbles from about an inch from the bottom on up. Getting a nice dark skimate already. Pump has quit leaking so I guess I'm good to go. I guess the pump noise is to be expected, this is the first external pump I've ever run on my tank. I don't get any whistle from the air intake though, unless it's high frequency that is. Don't hear anything up there any more.
