| Tridacna maxima | Re: Happy Thanksgiving RS Members happy thanksgiving everyone. that being said, me being part Cherokee indian, i feel the need to say this is a sad holiday, for some, that represnts the distruction of native american traditions and way of life, not to mention what soon lead to many travesties including killings and sealing of all the land. i dont want to put a downer on it but..., do you know the reason the indians decided to share their harvests? it was because the pilgrims where stealing the indians food and supplies, they would dig up the dead and take the foods and jewelry from them. later the indians thought it was best to teach them to hunt and grow foods of their own. their kindness was not returnned. instead crops, game, land, goods and lives where taken not shared. sorry to bring in reality i just can not give thanks for the first thanksgiving, it marks the invasion. we are still thankful during this time of the year but not because of the first thanksgiving but for mother earth and all that she provides, its a time of a new, representing the circle of life(kinda, dont know a better way to put it). this a link to a little background before thanksgiving. __________________ Victor ----- People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. |

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: Happy Thanksgiving RS Members Prow, it's funny (strange funny, not funny funny), my 3-year-old came home from school with an "Indian" hat on ... apparently the little ones had some teaching on Thanksgiving, and I was wondering exactly what was taught. I'm ashamed to say I don't know anything at all about the Delaware strain in our family... think it was my great-great grandmother. I know where she's buried, I keep meaning to get into it but I never do. I really need to push that up in priority.
