I read that the other day, pretty good, but I'm baffled as to why one should always take a pic of a fish facing left. I prefer the opposite, but would never put forth a rule about which way the fish should be facing... that's ridiculous IMO.

I thought it was funny too. It must be for some sort of identification purposes, cuz you always see them facing left on fishbase.org.

It's a stupid rule for sure, but it does make some sense. The eye is naturally drawn to the upper left side of a photo (like reading a book) and then moves through the photo, haveing a fish facing the left side of the photo puts the eye roughly in le left 1/3 of the photo or at least has a better shot at getting it there.

That's an easy rule to overcome, just mirror the image and presto, it's facing left! Silly rules there!
