Drew - fabulous pics! I love the vermetid snail in the first shot. It looks like it poked its head out to say "cheese!".

travis, i have a very inexpensive vivitar 100mm macro lense which has proven to be very worth thr 139 bux it cost.

eventually i'd like a sigma or tamron 180mm...but for now, this works well.

no flash. tripod, stopped down, long exposure, pumps off.

It sure is. If you see something resembling a spider web coming out of the tube, that's a mucus net. They put it out to catch particulate matter, and then reel it in to feed.

my whole family is suffering from a bad cold right now.
we have a good showing of mucous net at my house.
