I got so giddy I took a lot of bad shots but this one turned out pretty nicely.

No noise reduction used. Anyone care to guess what ISO this was taken at?

Both are at 3200 ISO.
I knew you were going to get that camera.

Are you waiting for the 580 ex flash to come out?

ISO 1600.

Dave, I haven't tried 3200 yet but I'm impressed with 1600 to say the least.

I'm not waiting on the 580 EX, my budget's shot for a while. But I am looking forward to it driving down the prices of used 550EX's.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

travis, i've been very happy with the sigma 500DG super.

besides better ISO performance with less noise, can you give us other impressions of what you like better about this cam?
i know increase MP as well...but what about shutter noise?
hows the viewfinder compare? overall handling? etc...etc...etc...
