An Evil Crab for Witfull...

This guy was at the Shedd Aquarium... He's a Giant Japanese Spider Crab- their leg spans can get up to 12 feet!!! Now THAT is one evil crab!!!

(I apologize for the quility- it's a still from video taken with my digital camcorder...)

90g AGA, 18g tall sump, CSS 220 w/ meshmod impeller, 4x54w Tek T5 retro w/ IC reflectors, Kalk reactor w/ aquamedic niveaumat system, a few SPS, LPS, zoos, and a few softies, 2 Ocellaris Clowns (hosted by both a RBTA and GBTA), Yellow Watchman, Potter's angel, Yellow Tang, Foxface, Midas Blenny, Purple Pseudo, huge brittle star, 2 tigertail cukes, fire shrimp, snails, and unfortunately two emerald crabs (the bubble algae got out of control).

Be interesting to see the foolish hawkfish that decides to take that one on! Imagine opening a big shipment of liverock and finding one of those as a hitchhiker....

this particular one looked to be about 3 feet across (with his legs bent, probably almost 5 feet with them stretched out). Definitely wouldn't want to come across him while swimming!

I had a spider crab in my local species tank...

They definitly are one of the ugliest things to come out of the sea.
