Re: new tank pics

thanks guys..

aqtcjak- first few test's were good.
im going to do another today
I was told i can expect a nitrite and nitrate spike over the next few weeks..
ammonia and ph levels have been at 0..
so far so good, I have almost double the amount of live rock to gallons of water in tank

55 gallon - 96 pounds of live rock..I was told that could help things out alot
as some people like to get away with not buying so much rock (because of price of corse) I got a little addicted to buying it over past few weeks....lol
I think I have enough now? maybe a few more pounds later on ???

thanks again Clint

Re: new tank pics

Cool! Are you gonna keep the damsels, or get different fish? Is this gonna be a reef tank?

Re: new tank pics

What lighting do you have? Hope your damsels don't kill the clowns!

Looking good.
Love the aquascape. Lots of caves and arches.
What are you using for lighting and filtration? The lighting you have will determine what kind of corals you can keep.
Also since you mentioned nemo do not get an anemone any time soon. They require a very well established tank of a year or so with very stable parameters as well as lots of light.

Re: new tank pics

My snails love to get on the hydors also, It's like an algae buffet if they can make it on there. Sometimes they make it back off, but if it's been more than a day, I feel bad for them and help them down.

The thing in the rock looks like a some kind of boring clam, I've got them on my TBS rock.

4-8 weeks is a reasonable target to add your first coral IF your water parameters check out. Don't rush things though, it's really frustrating and discouraging to watch things die. Is that a canister filter? Have you got filter media inside of it? That may cause some nitrate issues.

Love the aquascaping and that's some nice looking rock!

Re: new tank pics

yes it is a canister filter eheim..i was told that befor that it might cause some problems with nitrate in the future..I will have to constantly clean it?
Im pretty sure it has media in it already..
why did they recommend it at the aquarium store?
should i get rid of it and just use the skimmer?
the lighting i have is a odyssea 48'' 4 -led ,atinic, daylight on a timer
12000k 65watt each bulb 4 all together

Re: new tank pics

When I setup my first tank I was told that the ehiem canister was what I wanted. WRONG. Canistes are more of a freshwater thing. I have higher Nitrates than I wanted, and the dang thing just kept getting full. I had to clean mine one to two times per week. I got very frustrating. Scince then I have changed that tank to a sump filter, and all my tanks since have had sump filters. As long as you dontt let the filter pads, and ceramic media to accumulate detrius, you should be ok. But it happens fast, and decays fast as well.

Re: new tank pics

I have heard that odyssea lights burn people's house down (is this just a rumor maybe?) Also, you can probably do some softies, mushrooms, zoos, and some LPS probably...
