Re: Some tanks shots...

thanks... I posted a separate thread on him, he seems to be doing well except he's in a FIVE GALLON TANK, I'm a little peeved at Mike. He will soon be in a 75, which is a little better.

No, no pipefish. You mean the garden eel?

Re: Some tanks shots...

Looking great! isn't it funny how tanks seem to multiply? I thought out the new system to tie everything together so when the wife says no more systems, I can say "Its not a new system, just an upgrade" lol..

He's pretty cool! So supposedly males have more of an "overbite." I haven't seen another to compare, so I can't tell if there's an overbite or what.

They burrown down into the substrate (need fine-ish sand) and coats the tunnels with some type of bodily slime to keep them intact. he pokes his head and anywhere from a quarter to a half of his body out. He just hangs about, kind of swaying in the current like a plant. He's curious but wary, if you approach too fast he'll bolt down completely, but he's back out in a matter of seconds. He's had his hole behind the rock for the past week or so, he's made a new one today smack in front of the tank.

Boy, he eats!! The only thing I can find about their eating habits is that they can eat alot in one sitting, but I don't know if that's twice a day or once a week! Fortunately Mike has a filter from h@&& on the tank so the water is REALLY clean, he changes the pads out every 3 days or so. his only tankmate is a sexy shrimp. The big eyes give him good vision to see food, apparently their sense of "smell" isn't that great.

Mike looked at him about 2 months back, really wanted him, but we read he needs a 100 gallon tank. So he didn't at the time, but about 2 weeks ago, surprise!! Another, honey don't let me go to the LFS alone. Right now he's in the 5-gallon, which isn't much smaller than what the LFS had him in. I'm pretty darn sure Mike was inches from telling me to go ahead and get the bigger tank at the time he got the little guy... a day later we ordered a 75 gallon tank, which will be his new home in about 2 weeks.
