Re: The Full Tank Shot Thread!!!

My tank is brand spanking new! Thought I'd post a FTS so I can compare in the next weeks and months. It's been up and running about a month now. I installed Tampa Bay Saltwater's "The Package" Part 1 on April 21st, 2008 and Part 2 on Saturday, May 3rd. I really like how it looks!

Opinions and suggestions for improved survivability for critters you see in the tank are very, very welcome, as I am very new at this. I want the best chance for everything in there... so if you have any tips let me know them!

Re: The Full Tank Shot Thread!!!

Looks fantastic Barb!
I agree, those sponges add alot to your tank.

It's funny, because with all the reports of critters you spotted I was expecting to see something walking around in there.
Must be a nightclub tank. Party after dusk?

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: The Full Tank Shot Thread!!!

John, thanks... and I could tell it was so hard for you to say 'loce'. It means a lot to me.

Victor, I just searched that picture, and you're RIGHT! There's no one to be seen, not even the crazy kamikaze crab Evel! I had just finished moving things around, though... they were probably all cowering in the back of the tank... "SHE'S IN HERE AGAIN....,RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!"

JOJO!! I have THREE words for you, man! TAMPA BAY SALTWATER! Do it, DOOD! You will not have any regrets! This too can be YOUR TANK!

I think the worst that could come are the isopod things and the gorilla crabs. The gorilla crabs appear to fall easily for the tilted glass trick. The isopods, I don't know... I want to try to covertly watch the tank at night to see if I spot any.

What else is on there that you don't like the sound of? The aiptasia that grows in the caribbean is not invasive like the indo-pacific aiptasia that will take over a tank.

i dont know, maybe thats what scares me. i'm sure anything unwanted that comes on the rock can be removed eventually, but i'm not knowledgable on hitchhikers yet.

Ah, I think I understand... the fear of the unknown and what it might do?

I decided I was afraid of that, too, and that became part of the reason I did this rock. I feel I'm getting a true representation of what is in that part of the ocean/gulf. All the bugs and critters and whatnots. Man, the things I saw when I put the red flashlight on it last night! I don't think the other kind of live rock can have that sort of diversity, can it? I wanted the MOST life I could have, even if some of it scared me! LOL

Anyway, I'll get off your back about it, because everyone has a different way they'd like to do things. I'm just a rabid fan right now, so forgive me if I've pushed you too hard!

Re: The Full Tank Shot Thread!!!

Barb I was looking at them but the same thing that scares JoJo scares me...unwanted hitchhikers...I just don't want to do an aquascape and then BAM have to take it apart due to chasing crabs around..the aiptaisa wouldn't be that bad to deal with...just some joe's juice..I know you say there not intrusive but I rather get rid of them to be on the safe side. Just curious as well...did all those corals come with the rock..if it did then it's well worth the nasty hitchhikers.

Re: The Full Tank Shot Thread!!!

Yes, Anthony, everything you see in there came with the rock. The only thing in the tank that didn't come from TBS was a couple of pieces of dead Marco Rock.

I think I like all of it, the hitchhikers and such, because I'm brand new in the hobby. I've never dealt with any of the nasties so I don't KNOW any better yet. Hopefully, I won't have to learn too hard of a bad lesson!

Re: The Full Tank Shot Thread!!!

thanks barb...I actually went to the site TBS after I looked at your pic and started pricing..but I really don't like the inverts that you get...the main one being the cucumber. I like cucumber don't get me wrong, however from everything I've read and from people I've talked to they say it's kind of an expert type thing and one wrong move your cucumber dies and then your whole tank perishes. But everything else looks great....going to go to another forum and ask about LR and LS...but thank you for the response.
