| Serpent Star ![]() | I have the Kodak Easyshare DX 3600. My digital camera does not have the white balance feature, so I was wondering... Could the white balance be done after the picture is taken? I guess what I'm asking is...is there any editting software that allows this feature to be done after the picture is taken? Thanks for you help!! Good Luck and Have Fun!!!; |

| Star Polyps | Something similar can be achieved in Photoshop [not exactly the same - as you're altering what was taken and not taking something different ...] but it can be done in Photoshop. As for cheaper software - not really sure. I sometimes will take online retailer's `amazing pics' and use some substrate or other known white thing [eggcrate!] and set the `white point' in the levels adjustments in photoshop [also can set a black point too] - and feel that I get a more accurate color-rendering than their 20k bulbs + weird white balance to make all their SPS super blue. Just my 2 cents ... I'd love to hear what Travis and others think ...

| Dragon Moderator ![]() | You can use a program like Photoshop to alter the colouration to better reflect what you see in the tank. It takes a bit of practice (and smae ready made actions help out as well) but it's not too much of a chore after you get the hang of the program.

| Contributing Member ![]() | I am a newbie to PS and digital pics in general. I think if your camera can take pics in a RAW format you have more room to play with the white balance in PS. I use the auto balance option and a couple of Travis’s ready made actions. My problem is that my version of PS doesn’t recognize the RAW images. HIH S

| Smilie Bartender ![]() | Only by shooting RAW and using an appropriate RAW converter. But if your camera doesn't have WB settings, I'm sure it doesn't have the option to shoot RAW. The levels adjustment in photoshop can help, but it by no means actually adjusts the white balance. T

| Tubeworm | What Travis said... If I remember the function right, With Levels you can match between the Histogram and Levels, pick the point of lowest concentration, and set that as 1. It basically slides the White balance from some higher number down to one. Same thing on the higher end at 255. It takes your existing color levels and spreads them across all 256 color temperatures. If you can effectively adjust your levels in the software (slide between the 256 colors), then you can basically perform this basic color correction. |
