Hi All,

Thought I'd share my photos and excitement for my three new charges I brought home this afternoon. (first fish to enter tank) So far so good!

Red Scooter Blenny

Six Line Wrasse

Shy Royal Gramma

Thanks for luck. The royal has already staked his claim in a rock cave. Plenty of room for all, so hopefully the aggression will be minimal.

Does anyone know the "official" name for the Blenny? Is it a Segmented Sailfin Blenny?

"officially" it is Synchiropus stellatus. Commonly called red scooter blenny, or Starry dragonet:

Ohh, I stand corrected. You have Synchiropus moyeri. Moyers dragonet.

Thanks a bunch for the response and the species! I think you were right the first time, it has the pattern of starry dragonet than the Moyers.

Coloration and patterns are not a good way to distinguish fish species, the only thing I remember from ichthyology in college

S.moyeri would be found around western Pacific islands, while S.stellatus is found in the Indian Ocean. If the store has any idea where the wholesalers (typically the wholesalers list which islands or at least which collectors they get the fish from) got it from, then you would have a better idea of which species you have. A lot of stores don't keep track though.
