Painting a Reef Scene

Hi everyone,
I have decided to do yet another oil reef painting. For this one I have decided to document the process here on the Sanctuary. I started out with a 30" x 26" canvas, primed and sanded. This give me a great texture that will easily allow the paint to set up and smooth out.
I am using a graphite sketch pencil and art gum eraser to create a rough sketch of my subject(s). For the most part, I want to plan where most of the mid-tones and dark shadows will be. The next step is to take a dark pigment and lightly paint the outlines and shadows.

Yeah, this will be my first painting produced in limited edition. The others I have done were commissioned. I am going to frame the original for sale and produce about 50 giclee prints on canvas for sale as well.

I am actually in Sanford, right on the boarder of Lake Mary. Ideally, I would like to produce some for Greg at The Fish Bowl for resale as well. But we shall see...
Off to paint! I will upload more pics as the come!
