| Star Polyps | Finger Leather Looks Bad A friend gave me what I can most closly identify as a finger leather, it is a beautiful lavender color. It looks a great deal like pictures if green finger leather . A frag rack fell on it and now little white chuncks are breaking open all over, to include where the rack did not touch. Could this be giving off a toxin that may kill off livestock? If I can find an area where the white break outs have not appeared can I frag it. I has always been an attention getter because of its size and color. Need some help and thanks, Bubba |

It's ALL gotta go!! Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change. Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian) This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%. Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!! | Elegance coral | Re: Finger Leather Looks Bad leathers will let out a toxin when cut of injured. This can be harmfull to other corals but with normal water changes and running carbon there is nothing to worry about. Any damage done from the falling rack will heal very quickly. Leathers are surprisingly tough. Over the next few weeks the leater may look pretty bad but dont worry it will come back and probly look better then ever.
