Coral growing out of water

I have had my green toadstool leather for about a year now. It is now about ten inches across and about 14 inches tall. It has grown so much that some of the leather is no longer under water. The polyps no longer come out in those areas. Is this common/bad?

Not good. You need to frag it. The die off could spread if not checked in soft corals and i'm sure lps.

Could you post a photo of the coral ? Take a scissor or sharp knife to it, check here:

Re: Coral growing out of water

I know I could lance it but its about 14 inches tall and it needs to be 10 inches tall lol. The problem is that it is crawling up the LR to get higher in the tank... I will post a picture tomorrow.
