Help!!! Xenia is taking over my reef

hello from England.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get rid of Xenia from a reef tank.
I've tried all I can think of including cutting, scraping and siphoning, and even injecting with the same stuff you use for killing aiptasia, but it just keeps coming back happier and healthier than ever.
So far I've manged to keep it away frpm my corals but it's getting to be a real pain.
Thanks for any assistance

Chris

Can you pull the rocks out that it is on and let them soak in FW or dry out?

Or fragment the rocks and sell it to a pet store?

Total irradication seems hard to do.
Except if you try and encourage growth and walk around the house saying how much you hope the xenia doesn't die. It may just do the opposite. Seems to work pretty well.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Re: Help!!! Xenia is taking over my reef

I'm kind of trying to thin out my Xenia as well. All the Xenia I have seems to want to migrate to the top of the tank, so I just put rubble in it's path, and export it when it is on the rubble pcs. Once it reaches the top of the tank, it doesn't have any where to go and just grows bigger. It's not instant eradication, but pc by pc I'm getting it out of the tank. I have a hard time finding people who want my small pcs though, and I'm not comfortable throwing it out, so it's currently taking up a lot of space on my substrate, space I really want open for some different corals. If you can remove the rocks it's on, then take them out and kill the xenia that way, if the rocks are too big, try coaxing the Xenia onto smaller, removable rocks with the water flow.

Re: Help!!! Xenia is taking over my reef

Thanks for the replies.
The idea of taking the rock and soaking in fw isn't really parctical as there is a lot of other stuff growing on them (including a large plating Montipora) which has welded several pieces of rock together, the rock was mainly from my previous reef, but I didn't have any Xenia in there...a few pieces were new and i suppose that it arrived on them...it first appeared at the back of the rocks at the bottom of the tank, but has quite quickly spread up and is now growing over the tops and getting very close to some of my best corals, so i am really going to have to find some way of stopping it.
There has to be a way......please

Re: Help!!! Xenia is taking over my reef

take the rock out, scrape as much as you can with like a brush, and then superglue over where they were?

I'd be interested in seeing a pic if you have one. Maybe it would inspire some methods of removal?
