please help with placement of new corals

I am getting a few new corals today - mail order and was wondering if someone could give me some advice for where they should be placed in the tank, bottom, middle, on sand or dead coral? I am getting a derasa clam, brain coral and some colony polyps. thanks in advance!

Michele

Re: please help with placement of new corals

What type of lighting do you have.
The deresa is a sand clam. They love to be placed directly on the sand bed.
In general corals should be placed on the bottom, and move closer to the top (or closer to where you what theM) over a few weeks.

Tell us more about your tank - size, depth, and lights.

Re: please help with placement of new corals

Well you should not have to worry about bleaching your corals.
The clam, may do ok under that light, but for the most part clams need at least T5 HO. Many people say that clams should not be kept under any lighting other than Metal Halides. You should be able to put the corals anywhere in the tank. How deep is the tank, this plays a hbig part in placement as well.
Good luck

What kind of brain? The open brains like to be on the sandbed.
