Re: Blueberry Gorgonian Issues...

My blueberry is right in front of a power head and I just pour the DT's Live Phytoplankton in the current to blow it all throughout the tank. I only feed the Phyto about twice a week and mine comes out about every day.

Do these guys need phyto or zooplankton? What size range food do they filter out?

This is correct!

With the proper food, it is a lot easier to care for these animals.

Re: Blueberry Gorgonian Issues...

Who actually has/had the blueberry gorgonian in their tanks, how they are doing now?
Can you post the photos of coral and placement in the tank, intensity of the flow, feeding (what/amount/frequency)? Anything else to share, please.

I bought in the summer the declining one, it was together with other non-photosynthetic gorgonians, scleronephthya and sps (frags and Christmas tree worms), all others were doing fairly good.

Swiftia (fierce tangerine) and guaiagorgia (tiny medium-blue polyps) gorgonians recovered, but not the blueberry.

I never seen it eating at all, and eventually the frags, what left, were smothered by bryopsis (very bad outbreak in the tank with nitrates and phosphates zero).

Don't plan to buy another one, but still curious, why and how it is so different from other non-photosynthetic corals.

Input from keepers will be appreciated.

Re: Blueberry Gorgonian Issues...

I recently just added one to my tank as well. I hear that they need to be fed very often to be kept happy. you should try feeding everyday rather than every other day. and make sure that you place it where there is a gently flow of current as well. good luck!

Re: Blueberry Gorgonian Issues...

Did you see it actually catching the food, what are you feeding, how gentle the flow should be, comparing to other corals?

I never seen mine actually catching the food (Cuclop-eeze, ZoPlan). I have it no more.
