| Acropora | Hair algae on my Toadstool? I'm embarrassed to admit I don't have the correct terminology. There is a little Ha growing "on" the base & trunk of my toadstool (Sarophyton). Is this a sign that the coral is unhealthy? I've had it for years it has grown the polyps are extended nicely it gets good flow. Overall it looks nice & healthy. I would think It had a way to keep algae from growing on it. ![]() |

| Golden Moray | Re: Hair algae on my Toadstool? Ewww... when I read the title, dingleberries came to mind... Is the toadstool attached to rock? Could it be at the base of the rock? I'd manually remove it, sounds like the toadstool is ok from your description. Try increasing your flow. |

| Acropora | Re: Hair algae on my Toadstool? It's growing on the trunk & it's got a lot of flow the polyps are waving all around. I took a power head to it & tried to gently blow it off but it is on there pretty good. I'll take the necessary steps. I can't think it is natural. Thanks for the reply. |

| Golden Moray | Re: Hair algae on my Toadstool? Try a new single edge razor and gently scrape (not cut) off the hair algae. It is best if you do it now before it overtakes any more territory. |

| Golden Moray | Re: Hair algae on my Toadstool? You don't need to cut the toadstool... just scrape it. The blade should be at a 90 degree angle to the toadstool. ![]() |
