| Acropora ![]() | Re: Does too much heat kill coral? Yup the heat will kill your corals. Sorry to say, but at that temp I'd be surprised if anything survives. I would put some fans on the tank to help bring the temp down along with doing some water changes over the next couple hours to help bring it down also. Unfortunately rapid temp changes aren't good for them either.

| Harlequin Tuskfish | Re: Does too much heat kill coral? I floated some ziploc bags of ice when mine got too hot. Not too fast though. Mine got up to 87. I lost one branch of my frog spawn but other things came out okay. How long was it hot? I wish you luck ![]() |

| Neon dottyback | Re: Does too much heat kill coral? As a bit or additional advice. Most aquarium heaters are junk when it comes to being reliable, and the thermostats in them fail easily, often in the on position. I highly recommend getting a temp controller, similar to what is used for a chiller, and use that to control the heater.Yes they are somewhat expensive, about $120 - $200, but that's cheep compared to replacing corals and other livestock. |
