| Scopas Tang | Duncan's Coral or Sun Coral??? I have a Duncan's who thinks its a Sun Coral. It comes out full bloom when the lights go out, and then retracts when the compact flour. come back on in the morning. Any ideas on why this is? Thanks, Chris |

| Golden Moray | Re: Duncan's Coral or Sun Coral??? Unusual... Mine only retracts when I feed the tank and bits of food fall on it. It scoops them up and eats them. Man I love that guy! Is he new? Maybe he needs acclimated to the lights? You could move him lower in the tank perhaps. Mine is on the sand bed and I have T5s. |

| Scopas Tang | Re: Duncan's Coral or Sun Coral??? They are new. I've had them for a week now, and they just recently finally opened at all. I feed right after the lights go out for I have a bunch of suns. I think the Duncan may be training themselves to open when I feed the rest of the tank. But I thought that Duncan's open all the time? They are about 3-4 inches away from the surface for I heard they loved light. They are only compacts.. Not halides. Could they be too close? Chris |

| Acropora ![]() | Re: Duncan's Coral or Sun Coral??? I would definitely try moving them lower. I have mine down about 14 inches under 2x65w power compacts and it is open almost all the time. You can also try feeding it during the day, along with the suns, this will train them to open more during the day so you can enjoy them more.

| Golden Moray | Re: Duncan's Coral or Sun Coral??? Try and move them a little lower. Was it shipped to you or did you buy it in the LFS? Mine was shipped from Vermont in December (thank you NorthEastCoral.com!!) and opened up moments after hitting the tank and hasn't closed up (except when scooping up food to eat.) I keep it at the bottom of the tank and I have medium lighting (4 X 54 wt for a 72 gal.) Most people suggest moving it a little at a time to its new location. My personal experience is that the more fidgeting I do with a coral the more it hates me so I just move it where I want it in one swoop. ![]() |

| Scopas Tang | Re: Duncan's Coral or Sun Coral??? I have decided to change my feeding pattern in the tank. I now feed during the day when the lights are on. This has not only benefited the Duncan's Coral but also all of my Sun's. They are all out most of the day when the tank lights are on. Thanks again for all your help and input. Chris |
