Re: Duncan Care

What about proper placement, and water flow? I myself have just bought 3 polyps. I have been told they like medium flow and light??? Is this info correct?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Duncan Care

I have only had mine a week (from NorthEastCoral.com), but it seems to use both light and food for nouishment. I have mine on the sand in the front/center of my tank. (I think it is 5 heads.)

I fed a mix of DTs, VitaChem, mysis, and cyclops. I used a long baster to gently spray it and it sucked it all up.

Dentoid has a nice large colony and has for a little while. Perhaps he can share his secrets of succes.

Re: Duncan Care

How long did it take for your polyps to open once you got it home? I know each animal, and tank condition is different. Its been 24 hrs for me so far and they tried to open a few times with food stimulation, but nothing substantial yet.

Re: Duncan Care

I ahve a colony with over 40 heads. Mine took a few hours to open, and they never close, unless I touch them. They love light, and strong yet gentle current. Also they will eat meaty iems, but this is not required. Good luck

Re: Duncan Care

I'm still having problems with my Duncan's Coral. Let me give you guys some further info and in doing so, maybe someone out there can give me a bit more insight.

They are in a 12g nano. I bought them 72 hours ago. Over the past few days I have tried to move them to various locations about the tank to see if they would respond... No success.

Currently they are in the highest point in the tank so they can be closest to the light. They are in an area with mod/light flow. I do have a wave maker rotating return, but its hard to get a ton of flow in these nanos.

I target feed every other day with cyclopese and dt's.

All the levels ie, ph, nitrite, nitrate, cal.... all seem good.

What next?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Chris

Re: Duncan Care

Stop moving them. They need time to adjust between moves. Moving them constantly is stressing them more. Let them settle in for a bit. Sometimes corals can take a few days to acclimate to new surroundings.

Also, try feeding them some whole mysid shrimp, mine love it.
